They say three is the magic number. It’s in all the fairy tales: three bears, three wishes, three little pigs! And here at Boom, we’re no different.
Once upon a time there were three brothers: one was a real estate agent and vacation rental property manager with a keen eye for business. The second was a software engineer and vacation rental manager who knew exactly what software needed to do. The third was a product developer passionate about AI.
In 2023, they built a company together, and that was Boom. Let’s imagine the wicked witch in this fairytale is ineffective property management software!
When Alon, Moran, and I first started talking about founding Boom, it felt like magic. Alon, with his unparalleled knack for designing user-centric products, and Moran, a master of AI capable of building robust, scalable infrastructures, balanced out my experience in business strategy and scaling companies. Our complementary skills turned out to be the perfect ingredients for something extraordinary.
It wasn’t the first time Alon and I had worked side by side. For years before, we worked together as property managers at DesignedVR, navigating the challenges of growing a vacation rental portfolio by building our own technology. When the idea came that we could make this tech into its own product and share it with more property managers all over the world, we knew we had to bring Moran into the picture and let him guide us into putting AI at the forefront of this new software we eventually called Boom.
The power of three: Why we founded Boom
Short-term rental managers are no strangers to long hours, tight margins, and fighting fires. While property managers juggle bookings, maintenance, and owner questions, they often rely on outdated tools or makeshift systems. We saw an opportunity to change that — trading spreadsheets for smart insights, guesswork for precision, and burnout for balance — all while giving property managers back the most precious resource of all: time.
Boom was born out of our experience, both as property managers and in tech, but it has only been possible thanks to the passion, dedication, and expertise of my brothers. But we haven’t stopped at just building software. We’ve built a movement around the incorporation of AI into short-term rental management.
Happily ever after?
What’s next for Boom? We were the first AiPMS in the world, and we don’t intend to make that our last ‘first’. What will guide us into the future is what started Boom: when we find a problem, we find a solution by thinking outside of the box. If the status quo hasn’t solved the problem, then we need to take a step back and approach it from a different perspective.
AI is often the means, but it’s really the creative and inspiring environment we’ve created at Boom that has made all of this possible.
Our next chapter will involve new features that make property management even easier, as we continue to prioritize the people behind the properties. Because at its heart, hospitality is about people — whether it’s the guests we serve or the professionals we empower.
